Play Time

We got in the mail today our first issue of Wild Animal Baby, a subscription Aunt Emily and Uncle Eric gave us. It is great! It is a small, kid-sized magazine, with thick pages, and simple stories and pictures inside. As we've just started giving the triplets some "delicate books," this subscription is perfect for them. I also have fun giving the kids pony rides. Betty does the best with keeping her balance and grip on me.

Hats!

Hats were the subject of the books and songs at the library today. The girls especially loved wearing the over-sized Mexican hats. We're getting into a nice weekly routine of hanging at the library every Thursday afternoon.

Oh, and our thoughts are with Sabine, our minpin. She'll be spending a second night at the vet's, while they try to figure out what is making her sick. Arthur misses his "little bear."

Gymnastics

Erin took her class to gymnastics today, so we decided to tag along. It was great to see her in the middle of the day, and the kids loved running around exploring all of the neat activities. Arthur was a bit unsure after being tossed into the foam pit, but Erin was nearby to help out.

A Sunday Walk

We decided to get ourselves up off the couch on Sunday, and to take the kids out for a walk. They loved running down the street, picking up gravel, pointing to where the neighbor's dog lived, and finding a lion-shaped lawn ornament. Later, Betty and Coraline spent a lot of time collecting a handful of multi-colored plastic BB's.

Art Show

Arthur has really gotten into drawing. He regularly uses multiple crayon colors, and fills the page with his scribbles. Once he signed "kitty" while pointing at his artwork - we weren't sure, though, if he meant that he had drawn a kitty. Regardless, we posted it on the fridge. We put Cora's smaller drawing on the fridge as well, but she was a bit shy to share it with everyone.

A Failed Outing

Today we tried to take the kids to a small Civil War reenactment. A few men were supposed to be camping out near a local museum to raise money to restore their unit's flag. Evidently, though, we arrived too early. No one was in costume, and only a few small tents had been set up. So we decided to play in the neighboring field.

Though it was windy out, the kids loved running around, pointing at the birds, watching the trains, collecting feathers, and running down the hill.

Library Day

Today we made our second attempt to take the triplets to the toddler reading day at the library. The first time we tried this, we had to leave early (it involved Coraline and Arthur getting into the reader's box of props, and Erin chasing Betty around, trying to get a remote control out of her hands). Today was a success though! We politely sat through two books and a number of songs, before going to explore the rest of the library.

Hair-Raising Days

It is so dry around here. We are constantly shocking the kids with static electricity, and when we take the kids out of the car from their naps we always shock ourselves on the car. The girls especially have to deal with bad hair days when it is dry. But it is fun at night to rub their fleece pjs in the dark, and watch the sparks fly!

A New President!

The triplets enjoyed watching the presidential inauguration today. They occasionally would clap along with the televised audience. Arthur and I spent a long time working on learning the new president's name. But the conversation mostly went:
Me - "Say, Obama!"
Arthur - "Mama!"
Me - "Obama"
Arthur - "Mama!"
Me - "Say, Oh!"
Arthur - "Eh"
Me - "Oh."
Arthur - "Eh"
Me - "Oh-bama!"
Arthur - "Mama!"

Trapped!

We spent last night at Nana and Pop Pop's house, and woke to find a few inches of snow on the ground. Sadly, Erin still had to go to school. We didn't think too much of the snow, until we tried to take the kids in the car for their morning nap. We had planned to stop at our house to pick up the snowsuits, but both of these ideas went out the window when we realized that we couldn't get the car up Nana and Pop Pop's driveway. I couldn't have expressed the situation better than Arthur, who quietly said "Uh-Oh" as the minivan suddenly stopped all forward momentum and started sliding sideways back down the driveway. Luckily I was able to get it off the driveway and onto the grass (and not in the creek), where I could return back to the house. Needless to say, their first nap did not go well.

Luckily the salt crews came, Pop Pop shoveled, and the sun came out. By afternoon, not only were we able to have a semi-decent nap, but we also got their snowsuits so the triplets could play outside afterwards. And when it got too cold to play outside, the kids found out they could always warm up near the dryer vent...

Playing with Aunt Allison

The kids love hanging out with Aunt Allison. Though it was cold, we had a lot of fun playing outside with her. Then after we went inside, we had fun dancing to music. And yes, it was Allison who dressed Arthur before he went outside.

Aunt Allison Visits!

Aunt Allison drove up from Atlanta last night to celebrate her birthday with us during the long weekend. The triplets were thrilled to see her again, and also enjoyed the (small) slice of cake that we gave them.

Card Playing

Today Arthur, and the rest of the triplets, found a deck of cards to play with. Their attention was focused on it for hours, and we were convinced Arthur was trying to learn how to shuffle the deck. Afterwards, we found cards in every nook and cranny around the house. Coraline kept pointing to the heating vent and saying "Uh-Oh" as there were even a few shoved deep in the duct.

Cooking with Nana

This morning Betty started singing a very cute song about Mommy. In a high quiet voice, the refrain was always "Mamama Mamama Mamama," There might have been a few other verses. So we had to call up Erin to have Betty sing it to her. She managed to hear a little bit of it.

And then all the triplets climbed into their tower to "help" Nana cook some oatmeal cookies.

New Tower!

We finally got a learning tower for the kids to use. Now hopefully they can help us cook and do the dishes :)

Mornings

Each morning we head over to Nana and Pop Pop's house. They are always eager to down a bowl (or three or four) of cereal to start the day. Afterwards, if Pop Pop tries to eat his breakfast at the table, in just a few short seconds all three kids are somehow on the bench as well.

Coraline loves playing with the purse that Aunt Heather gave her for Christmas :)

Taking a Walk

After finding the beheaded Cabbage Patch kid in the living room, we realized that the triplets probably had a bit of energy they could burn off. So we took them for a walk around the neighborhood.

Besides getting distracted by the salt left on the road, the plane flying above, the large bird in the tree, the gravel on the side of the road, and the sound of dogs barking, they were quite good at keeping up with us during the walk.

Puzzling Circumstance

Today the girls spent a lot of time playing together (Arthur spent his time reading in the other room...). Coraline and Betty worked a while on their wooden bead maze, and then worked a while together on their puzzles. After a bit, though, I noticed that the two of them were making trips from the puzzle area to the other side of the room. Evidently they decided to put every single puzzle piece on their play tower, which took at least a dozen trips each.

Toad from Super Mario Brothers

It's always fascinating to find out what crazy activities the kids love to repeat. Once I shoved a stuffed animal down one of the girls' onesies, and now they often want to walk around with horses and ducks peeking out of the buttons of their clothes. Today we got a new beanbag, and I put it on Coraline's head. Afterwards she wanted me to keep balancing this giant hat on her, and then Betty wanted it done as well. Soon it was perched precariously on both of their heads.

Oh, and after not sleeping well for nights, Arthur finally got in his last molar - bottom right.
