Videos from the Strawberry Patch

Here are some videos yesterday from some of the many activities at the strawberry patch. The kids had their very first pony rides, and their first moon bounce experience!

Strawberry Picking

We had such fun visiting a strawberry patch today. Arthur literally ate 2 pints of strawberries, and came back empty handed. Betty filled up her container. When asked if she had any yet, she said, "Actually, I don't like strawberries." Which is true, as she avoids most fruits. But she had lots of fun picking them.

Driving to Richmond

The kids slept well in the car on the way to visit Grandma and Grandpa over Memorial Day weekend.

Fireman Arthur

Pop Pop brought home a new sprayer for his garden hose. Unfortunately, it looks just like the nozzle to a fireman's hose. So Arthur quickly claimed it, and then ran to grab his fireman's hat.

Jumping Lessons

And after flying lessons, the kids started a frenetic jumping activity.

Though I'm not sure where this last bit came from...

Three baby birds have fallen out of their nest, and are now trying to learn how to fly.

More Artists

While Coraline loves drawing, Betty has chosen to make art in a mixed medium. Somewhere under this artistically-arranged pile of felt and string, used to be one of Nana's statues. Betty also neatly stacked felt squares to the side, and arranged a line of marbles around the edge of a picture frame.

And not to be left out, Arthur recently drew this train, with each car a different color (like the one I painted on his bedroom wall).

A 5-Person Bridge

The triplets' cousins came for a quick visit (before heading down to Florida to see Great-Grandma), and our kids loved playing with them. Here they attempt the rare 5-person bridge, crossing the gap between the couch and coffee table.

Coraline the Artist

Coraline has decided that she wants to be an artist when she grows up. She'll spend close to an hour carefully working on a drawing, and then when she's done, she'll carry it around with her for the rest of the day (often sleeping with it at naptime and at bedtime).

One phase she's currently on is creating a series of drawings involving lots of differently-colored squiggles.

We also had trouble picking her up from daycare one day, as she wanted to finish this drawing. We didn't know that she had figured out how to do stencils, or even to color within the lines!

Monkey Do This

A while back we read a book to the kids that had monkeys in it. Evidently, the drawings seemed to indicate that the monkeys always were raising their eyebrows. Ever since then, Coraline will occasionally run up to us and say, "Monkey do this!" and raise her eyebrows up and down repeatedly. She likes showing off this skill.

Mastering the Tricycle

Arthur has finally figured out how to ride the tricycle. The girls haven't really shown an interest in it yet, but Arthur has been trying for months. It's been tough since Nana and Pop Pop's driveway is basically all hill. So he took it into the garage, and now is quite proficient at it.

Spring Haircuts

The girls got new spring haircuts today (Coraline above, Betty below). And its great to finally have the hair out of their eyes.

An Artistic Day

Today we had fun painting outside. Somehow, the kids decided it'd be more fun to sing and paint at the same time.

Betty invented a song, "Ladder, ladder, I'm painting a ladder!" that lasted for much of a half hour.

Soon though, it turned into various renditions of "Itsy Bitsy Spider."

And of course, we had fun with bubbles too.

A Tiny Frog

While cleaning up the porch outside, the kids were thrilled to find a little tree frog!

In other news, Arthur finally got in his last molar (top right). We're finally all done with the teething process!

Dress Up

We got a bunch of new dress up clothes at a garage sale, and the kids love playing with them! We think Betty is going to be a ballet dancer.

And of course, King Arthur found a crown to wear.
