A Warmer Day

The weather is warming, and so our Christmas snow is finally melting. We took advantage of the warm weather to venture outside, and try to build a snowman.

Merry Christmas!

Everyone was excited to open Christmas gifts this morning, and we were quite thankful the kids had gone back to sleep until 6:30am. We're not sure how many more years we can convince them to stay in bed on Christmas morning.

Arthur was quite excited to play with his new marble game, and the girls loved dressing up in their new butterfly wings.

And then we played outside in the snow, glad to have a white Christmas.

Christmas Eve

Grandma and Grandpa stopped by today to exchange Christmas presents with us.

The kids were most excited by their new dolls, which look like them. Coraline decided she and her doll needed pig tails today.

And then kids decided on names for their dolls - Paul Bunyan, Frosty the Snowman, and Sugarplum.

Arthur's Name, part II

Arthur was just glowing today when he learned he could write his whole name. We're thrilled that he's interested in writing!

Betty's Drawing

We think this might have been a self-portrait.

Betty's Creation

Betty was quite proud of the block man she made today!

Snow Storm

The other day we had our first big snow storm for the season. Erin's had a few cancelled school days, and the kids have had delayed openings all week. It wasn't quite enough to make snowmen out of, but everyone loved collecting icicles to suck on and snow chunks to throw.

Arthur's Name

Arthur surprised us today by deciding to learn how to write his name. I had been trying to get him to learn this for months, but he insisted just "A" was good enough for him. We still have to remind him which letters come next, but he is doing a great job putting them in order!

New Hair Cut

Today we caught Coraline trying to give Betty a haircut. Luckily this is all she snipped off.

Caroling and a New Train

This is the triplets' version of caroling. So if you hear them walking in your neighborhood, be sure to cover your ears and lock the doors.

And today the kids also opened up their early Christmas present - a new train to go under the Christmas tree!

Sweeney Todd, Snowman

Arthur has been obsessed with Paul Bunyan. Now this has carried over to his drawings, in which his snowmen always need to be axe-wielding snowmen.

Christmas Tree Farm

Today we headed out to pick out our Christmas tree, before the first snowstorm hit. We walked around in the cold, admiring each of the trees, before finally settling on one (that turned out to be larger than we had planned, once we got it home)

Quints x 3

We took the kids to the Richmond Science Center, and they loved exploring lots of different science investigations. One of their favorites was the mirror room, where each of their images were multiplied by five. They were fascinated by it, but for parents that already have triplets, we thought it was a bit disturbing.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We went up to Aunt Em's and Uncle Eric's house for Thanksgiving. We were quite proud of actually getting a group photo of everyone, which we hadn't done since before the triplets were born.

Everyone had tons of fun, and it was great to see Emily and Eric since we probably won't see them again before they head back to China for a few more years.

A Pre-Thanksgiving Celebration

We've been taking so much about Thanksgiving that the kids decided to have a feast of their own. They took a blanket, and put it across the coffee table (it was lumpy, since they didn't remove all the books that were already on the table). They pulled up chairs, set the table with their snack bowls and water cups, and then invited everyone to the party.

Class Pictures, Part 2

We got the rest of their school pictures back today. One kid in the class who refused to look at the camera.

Letters and Drawings

Here Betty and Cora pose in front of Betty's amazing lion drawing. She was quite proud of it.

We've also been working on our letters. Today was "B."

Happy Halloween!

We drove up to Maryland to trick-or-treat with the triplets' cousins. With Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, Piglet, and a ghost, it looked like the kids were a haunted version of the Hundred Acre Woods.

The kids got so much candy that we had to help them carry their buckets home. Afterwards, they got to choose the five pieces that they were going to keep.

DC Rally

We went to the Rally to Restore Sanity in DC today with Aunt Heather and the cousins. The train was amazingly crowded, but the kids did surprisingly well.

After looking at all the crazy people in costumes, and trying to hear bits of the rally itself, eventually we all got tired and headed home.

Crawfish Hunting

We caught another crawfish in the creek today. We're not quite sure how they manage to live there, as there is rarely water in the creek bed.

Carving Pumpkins

Everyone loved carving pumpkins today.

Each of the kids drew their own designs on the pumpkins, which I cut out for them. We think they look great!

Workbooks

Aunt Allison came for a visit, and helped the kids practice in their workbooks. Coraline does especially well staying in the lines while she colors.
