Today Betty decided to take out Arthur's appendix.

First Field Trip

The kids took their first field trip at school today. Inspired by Arthur's question about how bread is made, the school set up a visit to a local pizza parlor.

Everyone enjoyed making their own individual pizzas (even if the chef gave our kids odd looks when they didn't want sauce on theirs)

Coraline the Teacher

Coraline has taken a renewed interest in learning sign language, and she often proudly shows us the various signs that she knows. The other two never have as much of an interest in it, so there are always words and letters that Coraline can teach them.

And also, the kids often play "teacher-student," which occupied much of dinner tonight.

Call a Tow-Truck?

Grandpa helped Arthur tow his car when it broke down today.

Wilderness Festival

We had fun at our local Wilderness Festival today. The girls enjoyed dancing with Grandma, and everyone tried the tasty peanuts from one of the food tents.

Afterwards, Grandpa read everyone a story.

Batting Practice

Pop Pop's been working with Arthur on his batting skills. He's gotten quite good.

And Coraline is working on it as well. Her stance needs a bit more work.

Possum Hunt

Last night Nana and Pop Pop caught two opossums in the crawl space beneath their house. We're not sure how many more are under there, but they certainly provided a lot of entertainment.
And he was not pleased about being caught...

Pedicure Day

Everyone got their toes painted today. Arthur's were painted clear, since "Boys don't wear red nail polish."

I always think toddler finger paint should be renamed toddler body paint.

Coraline's Portrait

Coraline says this is her drawing. Since the kids rarely draw figures, we always wonder who drew them when they show up at the art table.

Halloween Preview

Our costumes arrived in the mail, and we couldn't wait to try them on! (Now to figure out how to keep them from wearing them until Halloween)

Artist Arthur

Arthur decided to try his hand at portraits today. We don't think he's ever drawn one before, so we were quite impressed at how this turned out. The whole time he said he was drawing Betty (who the whole time insisted it didn't look like her), and he was very deliberate in his drawing. He thought it was funny when he drew a small mouse on her left foot, and when he made her arms extra long.

Dancing Meat

During breakfast today, Betty and Coraline both broke out singing a chorus of "Meat dancing on a fork!"

First Day Back at School

Today the kids went back to school. They had no problems at all, and didn't cry once. We'll see how they do in the next week or so once the novelty wears off.
